Future 'Bake Off' contestants?

Year 5 have been enjoying themselves learning about Fairtrade.

Having discovered the value of buying Fairtrade products and that chocolate can form part of a healthy diet, we researched chilled chocolate desserts. We then designed our own desserts, taking into account taste, texture, colour and visual impact. We made our chocolate desserts very professionally. We were involved in sharing out the ingredients, including chocolate, strawberries, popping candy and squirty cream, as well as using sharp knives and graters. Well, you can imagine, the smell in the classroom! Once we had all evaluated our desserts, we really enjoyed eating them!

We also used the work we have been doing in English to design a persuasive poster to encourage other people to buy our product. What a week!

British Science Week 2017!

We really enjoyed our Science Day based on the topic 'Change'.

We made bread rolls, with different groups altering the recipe so we could investigate why we need each of the ingredients. We enjoyed tasting the different rolls and could really tell the importance of each ingredient!

We explored changing colours, using paper towels and water coloured with food dye.

After playing 'Worm Hunt' on the field (trying to find different coloured pieces of wool, not real worms) we talked about the importance of camouflage and have created our own butterflies to camouflage into out classroom habitat!
